And the winner is………
SUN LIFE FINANCIAL! Mozle Tov!
I’d like to state that I absolutely hate this Europafication of sports. Ads don’t belong on jerseys, they belong on the court, sidelines and at the appropriate intervals, commercials. I do not want to see them on jerseys, no matter how subtle it might be. Because that’s how it starts, with one subtle ad and next thing you know you look like a European Hockey team.
Adam Silver should be absolutely ashamed of himself for letting this happen. David Stern had a reign that seemed to last a millennia and even he never let advertisers ruin the sanctity of the jersey. And you know why? Because the only other North American league that has advertising on it’s jerseys is the CFL. And being associated with the CFL is like being associated with Nicaragua and Syria as two of the three countries to not be in the Paris Climate Agreement.
I as well don’t like the notion of having a life insurance company as our sponsor, it’s a bad omen. The Raptors are pretty much asking for a major injury now, tempting fate and all. And when this injury happens, they’ll only have themselves to blame. Falling victim to the mighty dollar. They could’ve had any Canadian company sponsor them and they chose the one that’s associated with injury and death.
I also think 5 mil a year is really, really, cheap. Where the hell was Drizzy Drake when the bidding war was taking place? Wouldn’t the biggest Raptor fan in the entire land want his logo on their jerseys. For a guy who brags about all his money, losing out on a 15 million dollar bid is pretty DAMN. sad.
