The Visor-Era officially begins!
I had been waiting until McDaniels officially signed the dotted line before blogging anything about the Colts hiring him, because this wouldn’t be the first person to ever backtrack on the Colts. Actually, now that I think about it, the Indianapolis Colts were literally founded off abandoning cities, so I didn’t wanna jump the gun. But now it looks like Colts fans can celebrate as we finally have a coach who doesn’t begin to cry every 15 minutes.
McDaniels is obviously coming to the Colts after just losing the Super Bowl but the Patriots offense managed to put up 33 points against a SOLID defense, so I don’t think McDaniels is as fault for last Sunday’s loss. McDaniels pulled out all the stops and even ran a competent trick play, even if it didn’t pan out. I’ll take whatever the Patriots called on Sunday over this:
I mean seriously, who in the fuck thinks the above will result in a succesfull play?
Oh yeah… this imbecile
McDaniels has only had one previous head coaching gig, when he coached the Denver Broncos for 2 years, where he managed to trade away star quarterback Jay Cutler and ostracize Pro-Bowl wideout Brandan Marshall. But what people tend to forget, is that Josh McDaniels drafted the messiah himself, Timothy Richard Tebow III, so maybe it wasn’t all that bad. Also, tons of coaches failed at their first head coaching gig only to come back to illustrious careers, it took both Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll until their second NFL team to find success. Not to mention the fact that McDaniels was 33 when he took over the Broncos. Since he was fired, McDaniels has accumulated 8 more years of NFL experience, hopefully maturing in this time.
Andrew Luck has to be ecstatic knowing that he’ll actually have someone whose competent on offense running the show. If McDaniels can turn Matt Cassell into an 11-6 QB, I can’t wait to see what he does with Andrew Luck. This hiring as well has to come as a sign of relief for the Colts, I can’t imagine McDaniels takes this job if Luck’s health is in question, so hopefully Andrew Luck will be starting week 1 healthy for the first time since the Colts drafted the poor bastard.
On a sad note, I’d like to take this time to say rest in peace to linebacker Edwin Jackson, who was tragically killed this weekend after being struck by a drunk driver. I give Jim Irsay a lot of shit but he has offered to pay for the funeral services of both Jackson and his Uber driver who was also killed.
