Last week, I meant to write a blog titled “I Think Me & Jonathan Tucker Are Friends” Well folks,,,, it’s no longer a question but a statement of fact.
For those of you who don’t know who Jonathan Tucker is, he is an actor. While he hasn’t done that much on the big screen, he has managed to make the silver screen his home and is slowly becoming one of the best character actors out there. Tucker usually plays a sort of fast-talking bad guy with a an angelic southern draw. Some of Tucker’s acting credits include Parenthood, The Black Donnellys, and Justified where he played the fantastic season 6 antagonist Boon. If you’ve never watched Justified, I highly encourage it, while over-the-top in the sense that Timothy Olyphant’s Raylen Givens would turn the small town of Harlan into a modern-day O.K. Corral. Walton Goggins also starred in the show playing the main antagonist throughout the series, as he played White Supremacist Boyd Crowder.
But I’m not here to talk about Justified I’m here to talk about my new best friend Jonathan Tucker, Tucker has currently been killing it on Westworld which led to this new friendship.
It was last Monday, I had gotten home from work and started watching the latest episode of Westworld, it should be noted that I was high as shit. That’s when the this thought came into my head.
There are currently two other Star Wars trilogies in the works. One of the trilogies is being helmed by Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones’ David Benioff & D.B. Weiss. This means there are about to be a lot of roles on the Star Wars front in the next couple years. I was even meaning to bring back my one part series Half Baked.
This might be type casting but you can’t tell me that Jonathan Tucker wouldn’t make a good bounty hunter or smuggler. Tucker could be a modern day Boba Fett showing up throughout the trilogy trying to catch one of our protagonists all while sounding dope as hell. Tucker has perfected the Western genre and Star Wars is heavily influenced by westerns. Han Solo is pretty much a space cowboy. So far there hasn’t truly been a good secondary villain in really any of the Star Wars. Boba Fett while looking cool ended up getting knocked into the Sarlacc pit. Captain Phasma was pretty much the same. We need someone whose not necessarily aligned with anyone but maybe has his own convictions. Kill for money, steal who knows what. Maybe he gets a contract because someone owes a debt, maybe he happens to stumble upon the thing our new heroes are looking for. The point is the opportunities are endless and Star Wars would be dumb to miss out on this opportunity. Star Wars also has a history of casting lesser known actors. Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson had been in things before but they weren’t house hold names.
If I had to guess which trilogy he’d be in it would be the Weiss & Benioff one. I solely say this because of the HBO connection. Game of Thrones has been HBO’s bread and butta for the last 7 years whilst Westworld is looking to become their next tentpole.
Anyways, Tucker ended up liking that tweet which I assumed meant we were best friends. Thus the original almost-blog “I Think Me & Jonathan Tucker Are Friends”. Flash forward to last night. I had just uber’d from my mother’s to father’s, they live on opposite sides of the city. Since it was Mother’s Day, I had spent the weekend there and tried to stay as late as possible. I just wanted to make it home in time for Westworld. By the time I got to my father’s I had about 5 minutes to spare. So I turned on the TV, still hungover from the night before and began to watch a show that I still don’t understand (might be somewhat related to the hungover factor). As the show goes forward Tucker once again starts killing it. The man steals every scene he’s in. So, thinking that were friends, I shoot off another tweet about him because that’s what friend’s do.
14 minutes later he replies calling me his bff, week made. I gotta say, if there’s one way to ward off the Sunday Scaries it’s having an actor in the TV show you’re watching call you his bff.
So there you have it folks,,,, I like to think that this the beginning of a beautiful friendship and who knows maybe if he get’s cast in one of the new Star Wars’ he’ll hook a brother up.
P.S. I think I have to try and get an interview with him, right? If there were two things I wanted to do when I started this blog it was to 1) get a Hyrdro Hammock 2) Interview people.
P.P.S. There’s no way this guy doesn’t think I’m crazy, just wrote an essay about him liking
one two of my tweets.
